Good morning from Cosgrove Middle School!  The weather has made a nice change and it is that time of year to send out a reminder to vote on the Spencerport’s Budget tomorrow.  For more information go to http://www.spencerportschools.org/district/2018-19_budget_section

Today, we will be hosting a special presentation called  “Kids Escaping Drugs” for our 8th grade students only, where students will have an opportunity to learn about the dangers and consequences of substance abuse from peers who are now in recovery.   The Beta Team will be listening 11:42-12:32 and Omega will listen from 1:00-1:50.  This important discussion and presentation was coordinated by Mr. Centola, Ms. Zobkiw, Drug and Alcohol Counselor and Mrs. Bell.  Our goal is to create awareness and start a discussion with our students especially during a time in our country where addiction has an impact like never before on our society.  Parents are welcome to attend today's presentation.

As we look ahead to some important dates ahead, our Annual Academic Awards Night invitation letters have been mailed and we look forward to see parents and students on Monday,  June 4th.  Students who have earned consecutive honor or high honor roll will be provided certificate in the classroom.   I also wanted to make sure that our 8th grade parents get a friendly reminder about our 8th grade Moving Up Day on June 1th at the high school’s PAC starting at 1:45 p.m.  Students will be cleaning out their lockers on June 12th and have until June 14th to get everything out.  Please send your student to school with a few bags so that they can bring home sweatshirts and other supplies that have built up this year.  Lockers will be cabled shut during final exams.

I am hoping that we will have a wonderful rest of the year as the weather continues to get warmer.  Please know that we are continuing our expectations around the dress code.  We will continue to assess students as they came off the bus and to ensure that they are following our expectations.  We had several students change their shorts that were way too short.  The expectation is that shorts need to go past their fingertips and tops cover their mid-chests.   A few boys have also needed to change their shirts and a belt was offered to another young man.   This is part of our school dress code.  The Parent/Student Handbook link for you is below. We thank you for your support and appreciate your attention to this.

Last week, was Teacher/Staff Appreciation week and I have to give a huge shout out to our new parents association, Cosgrove LOTS!  They helped coordinate a wonderful week and our staff was so grateful.  It has been a wonderful year so far and we hope that all of our students will finish strong.  Please let me know if I can be of help to you or your child.  Feel free to contact me at [email protected] or at 349-5302.

Sincerely,

Ned Dale
