Hello Cosgrove Families!

I hope this message finds you and your family well. The first three days of classes have come and gone and I sincerely hope that your child's school year is off to a great start. For families new to this e-news, I will send regular bi weekly updates to families with some important reminders and highlights of all the great things happening at Cosgrove. Please note that I do not receive responses to this email. Please contact me directly at [email protected] or 349-5302 with any questions or concerns.

As we head into the first full week of classes, here are some important reminders about the next two weeks:

Activity period: This is held on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3-3:25. This is a great time for students to see teachers for extra help and for students to join a club. Activity period begins on Monday, September 16. Activity buses are available for students and they will receive  a pass from a teacher to board the bus.

MAP test: This assessment, similar to iReady, is a tool we use to determine students current level of performance in the areas of ELA and Math. These results are used to inform instruction in the classroom and to provide extra support to students if needed. All students, grades 6-8, will participate in these assessments over the next couple of weeks. Please contact your child's math or ELA teacher (or myself) for more information.

Computer use agreement: Thank you to everyone who has completed the computer use agreement. For those who have not, please compete this form by Friday, September 13. After this date, anyone who has not completed the form will automatically be enrolled in "option b"-  the no insurance option. This agreement can be found on our website. Hard copies are also available in the main office.

Computer Sleeves: On September 19 and 20, 7th and 8th grade students will swap their computer bag for a computer sleeve. Our hope is this will help keep computers safe while in student book bags. Please remind your child they need to bring their bag on the 19th and 20th to swap them for a sleeve. 6th grade students will receive their computers this week and will continue to use the district provided computer bag.

Curriculum night: Curriculum night at Cosgrove is Wednesday, September 18th from 6:30-8:30. This is a great time for you to meet teachers and learn more about the curriculum. Students will bring home more detailed information regarding the night on Monday, September 16.

Lastly - thank you for all of your support over the past week. Our partnership with parents and guardians is essential to a successful school year. Middle school is a time of tremendous growth and change. I look forward to our journey together and want you to know that i am always available to assist with any concerns you may have. I also love to hear the great experiences you and your child is having.

Have a great weekend!
