December 7, 2018

What a great week this has been at Cosgrove! The students are working hard to maintain their first quarter success. We have seen learning in action from the 3D models rolling in for the 6th grade science projects to the fundraiser for garment workers in Bangladesh, inspired by the most recent Social Studies inquiry.  The creative ways students are demonstrating their learning is just awesome to watch.

Our winter athletes and musical rehearsals are in full swing. As always, we will be reinforcing the Extracurricular Academic Eligibility Policy across all athletes and participants in the Little Mermaid performance that is coming up in March.  Please encourage your child to take advantage of the multiple opportunities they have to maintain and improve their academic performance such as FLEX and the after school activity period.

On Wednesday night, our music department put on a delightful performance of the Show Choir, 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade choruses. We are so fortunate to have an amazing music program in Spencerport, and Wednesday night’s concert was just one example of the talent in our District. Thank you to Mrs. Perfetto and Mrs. Cockey for all their work with our students. The students have clearly spent many hours and much dedication in preparing the pieces for the show. Kudos to all of you! We are looking forward to another musical event on December 18th when the Cosgrove instrumental concert will be held in the Cosgrove Auditorium, starting at 7:00 pm. Come out to see a great show!

This Friday is the Annual Cartons for Christmas. Students and staff have been donating non-perishable items the cause for weeks and today is the Cartons for Christmas sort and delivery. Thank you, in advance, for all the time, energy and effort put into giving this holiday season.

In the spirit of giving, 8th grader Bryon Streb is collaborating with the Dreams from Drake organization to collect new toys for the 6th Annual Dreams from Drake Toy Drive. You can donate new toys for this cause by dropping them of at the Greeter’s desk by the end of the day on December 10th

As winter gets into full swing, we ask for parents help in following the traffic patterns during early morning drop off in the front loop. Please use only the right lane to drop off your children. Pull as far to the front as possible when dropping off. We ask that you please exit the right lane in a timely fashion. Should you need to remain in the loop after your child exits your vehicle, please use one of the parking spaces in the loop so that traffic can continue to flow smoothly.

On November 27th, the Board of Education appointed Mr. Jim Centola as the Cosgrove Principal. Mr. Centola has served the District in the last two years as an Assistant Principal at Cosgrove and we are so pleased to have him assume this new role starting January 1st. Please join us in welcoming Mr. Centola on December 18th during a Meet and Greet reception
